Welcome to GGTC's 13th Tri & Give (TAG) Season! This ten-week training program will begin on Sunday, July 20, 2014 and run through race day on Sunday, September 28, 2014.
We’re looking for ordinary people ready to experience an extraordinary event. You will be training for the Santa Cruz Triathlon on Sunday, September 28 2014. You will swim .92 mile, bike 25 miles, and run 6.2 miles. When you cross the finish line, the feeling of triumph is an adrenaline rush beyond compare, with bragging rights to match.
Neil Fraser, the veteran TAG coach and accomplished triathlete, will lead this ten-week training program along with his terrific coaching staff from TRIMORE Fitness. This program is designed specifically to fit your level of fitness and ability.
A portion of the program’s fee, minus administrative costs, will be donated to a local charity. GGTC's 2014 beneficiary is Trips for Kids Marin. Thanks to GGTC members, coaches, and participants, we have raised over $90,000 and shared our passion of triathlon and sports with others in our community. GGTC and TRIMORE Fitness would like to help you complete a triathlon while simultaneously helping the community!
- Monday open-water swim workouts (6 PM, Aquatic Park)
- Wednesday track workouts (6:30-7:30 PM, Kezar Stadium)
- Sunday workouts (9 AM, average 2-3 hours, locations vary)
Individuals will be responsible for purchasing their own equipment and race registration. Register for the race now to secure your spot!
The program fee is $330 for the 10-week program.
This program is for Golden Gate Triathlon Club. You must register as a GGTC member before you can sign up for the TAG program. Become a member.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is this for?
Self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals that want to take on the challenge of multi sport training! Men and women that can swim 200 yards, ride a bike and run a few miles. Someone that may have completed a triathlon previously and is looking to go to the next level.
When will I be working out?
Your first group workout will be on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 9 AM. The group meets 3 times per week leading up to race day: Monday at 6 PM at Aquatic Park (swim), Wednesday at 6:30 PM at Kezar Stadium (run), and Sunday mornings at 9 AM at varying locations for "brick" workouts- a combination of swimming, biking and running workouts.
Where will I be training?
Workouts will be held both in Marin and San Francisco.
What happens if I can't make it to all the workouts?
Life happens; it would be great if we had enough time in the day to do everything we want. With the help of your coaches, you can train as little as 8 hours a week and feel confident you can complete the race.
Do I have to race?
No, competing in the Santa Cruz Triathlon is optional. You can certainly train with the group and not race or race in another triathlon. It’s totally up to you!
Can you tell me more about the Santa Cruz Triathlon?
Please visit the Santa Cruz Triathlon website for more details regarding the race. Securing an entry spot and registration fees are not included with the program. You must register independently for the Santa Cruz Triathlon.
What about equipment?
You will need a bicycle and helmet, a good pair of running shoes, swimsuit, goggles and a wetsuit. If you don't have these things yet, don't worry! Coach Neil will cover the basics of triathlon equipment in the beginning of the training program.
TAG is a non refundable program.
