This year we will be providing training for both Vineman 70.3, Barbs Race, and any mid summer 70.3 race. This option allows a large group of athletes to train together, especially those who were unable to get into Vineman 70.3. The Half Iron Training program will be a 12-week training program to help you accomplish your goal time, or help you get across the finish line. The program is designed for both competitive and non competitive athletes with the goal of supporting each other, working and training hard, and leaving HIT with new friends. Coach Mike Portman of Portman Coaching will be leading this year's HIT to Vineman 70.3
Mike Portman works with athletes of all levels, whether it’s your first half Iron distance race, or you’re returning to improve your performance, Mike Portman will work with you to meet your goals.
This program is intended for our intermediate to experienced athletes, meaning you have completed an Olympic distance event within the past 12-months and it is recommended you have done one half Ironman, although not required. Additionally, you must be in good physical condition and healthy (without injury).

Half Ironman Training REGISTRATION - $265
Who is this for? This
program is intended for our intermediate to experienced athletes,
meaning you have completed an Olympic distance event at least once
within the past 12-months. Additionally, you must be in good physical
condition and healthy (without injury).
When will I be working out? Training
schedules will be updated weekly. As a participant, you'll be able to
log-in to a training program and view your workout schedule for the

What happens if I can't make it to all the workouts? As
an experienced athlete, you know the drill, knocking out your workouts
is up to you. Keep to the schedule as best you can. You can always
contact your coaches for help in planning your week.
Do I have to race? No.
Participation is optional. This program is about trying something new,
setting goals, and achieving them. Many participants use this program as
a way to see if they want to do a future half ironman or Ironman!
