Cycle for Survival - GGTC Team Fundraiser!
Author Last Post
Greetings Unicorns and Triathletes!

I know we are all busy with work, training and life... but it is time we all rally together and give back!

Thanks to the amazing help of our fellow triathlete, Lauren Scher,  we have created a GGTC team for the Cycle for Survival ride at Equinox on Pine St this February 1st.

WHAT IS CYCLE FOR SURVIVAL?
CFS is an Indoor cycling relay on spin bikes raising money for rare cancer research.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
100% (yep thats 100%) will go to rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the largest private cancer center in the US.

WHAT IS RARE CANCER?
Rare cancer is any cancer that has fewer than 200,000 cases in the US. Rare cancers are everything from pancreatic, leukemia, sarcoma, brain, all pediatric cancers (among many others) **** If you add up all the rare cancer cases out there they equal 50% of all cancer cases in the US today. But because they are not classified together they do not get as much funding from the govt and other organizations.

HOW DO I JOIN THE TEAM?
Great question! Please email me at Abby.Lauterbach@gmail.com

HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO RAISE?
We are asking that each rider raise a minimum of $200. There is no cost to join the ride. We are hear to help provide tips and email suggestions for you reach your goal! With the holidays and social media, you can do it!

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?

Unfortunately we all have been affected by cancer in some way. A recent study found that 1 out of every 2 men and 1 our of every 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in the future. This is a terrifying truth and we are asking for your help by joining the battle and helping do what we all can before that time comes.

I also want to thank all who have already signed up and thank Erin Cave, Julianna Burill, Raymond Wong, Chris Douglas and Brian Inatsuka for starting teams at their companies and with friends outside of GGTC. You are helping make a huge impact for this cause and grow this event in SF!  While we have a team with the club we encourage you to spread the word and its a great event to do for team building, with family and friends!

Thank you all so much,
Abby
