The GGTC Tri & Give Training Program
Welcome to the Golden Gate Triathlon Club's 14th Tri & Give Program! GGTC and TRIMORE Fitness would like to help you achieve completing a triathlon while simultaneously helping the community!

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

If you have questions that need to be answered, please email us.

Tri and Give (TAG) will energize your daily routine and train you to be a triathlete. We’re looking for ordinary people ready to experience an extraordinary event. YOU will be training for the Santa Cruz Olympic Distance Triathlon, Sunday, September 26th, 2010. You will swim 1 mile, bike 25 miles, and run 6.2 miles. When you cross the finish line, the feeling of triumph is an adrenaline rush beyond compare, with bragging rights to match.

Neil Frasier, our TAG coach and accomplished triathlete himself, will head up this ten-week training program along with his terrific coaching staff from TRIMORE Fitness. This program is designed specifically to fit your level of fitness and ability. The Golden Gate Triathlon Club will provide you with experienced volunteers and membership in the club voted “Best of the Bay” three years running!

The majority of the program’s fee, minus some administrative costs, will be donated to Girls on the Run. This local Bay Area charity provides a positive after-school program for girls ages 8-13 that uses experiential learning to prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living as well as help train the girls to complete their first ever 5K run! GGTC's TAG donations will specifically fund the Marshall Elementary after-school program in the Mission.

Thanks to GGTC members, coaches, and participants, we have raised over $75,000 and shared our passion of traithlon and sports with others in our community. TAG members and GGTC members both participate in choosing a charity to be the beneficiary of TAG proceeds.

TAG Training will Include:

  • Three coached group workouts per week
  • Learn techniques to safely and effectively improve your swimming, strengthen your biking and add speed to your running
  • Clinics that will cover everything you ever wanted to know about triathlons but were afraid to ask
  • Additional e-mail support to fuel your passion, encourage your commitment and answer any questions
  • Equipment overview, evaluation and recommendations
  • Weekly training programs emailed to you detailing every phase of your training
  • Travel, Train and Race with the TAG TEAM

The ten-week program will begin Saturday, July 17th, 2010 and run through race day on Sunday, September 26th, 2010. Please note that only the first workout will be held on a Saturday due to a large event, Vineman, on Sunday, July 18th. The rest of your weekend workouts will be held on Sundays.

Individuals will be responsible for purchasing their own equipment (we can help show you the options), and purchasing your race slot.

Register for the race at by clicking this link. All GGTC members get $15 off by entering the code gg10tc at checkout. Also, the Santa Cruz club competition is back for 2010 with $1,500 in cash and prizes for clubs so make sure you choose GGTC as your triathlon club! Don't delay. We recommend you sign up early as the race has been known to sell out fast!

FAQS:

Who is this for?
Self-motivated, enthusiastic individuals that want to take on the challenge of multi sport training! Men and women that can swim 200 yards ride a bike and run a few miles. Someone that may have completed a triathlon previously and is looking to go to the next level.

When will I be working out?
Your first group workout will be Saturday, July 17th. The group meets 3x per week: Monday nights at Aquatic park for open water swims, Wednesday nights at Kezar Stadium for track workouts and Sunday mornings for combinations of workouts called "bricks".

Where will I be training?
Workouts will be held both in Marin and San Francisco.

What happens if I can't make it to all the workouts?
Life happens; it would be great if we had enough time in the day to do everything we want. With the help of your coaches, you can train as little as 8 hours a week. And feel confident you can complete the race.

Do I have to race?
No, the Santa Cruz race is optional; you can certainly train with the group and not race or race in another triathlon. It’s totally up to you!
